The Enoteca
In 1987 I opened Le Bollicine, the first and only wine bar in the “Palio” city.
In 1990 I started San Domenico, the adjoining wine shop, offering wine and other local specialties. Owing to the location, the interior design, the extensive selection of wine and typical Sienese products, the staff’s professional skills, expertise and quality service, my ongoing commitment to keeping myself and my assistants well-informed, it soon became a reference point for both locals and visitors. In eighteen years of direct experience in the business, I met a crowd of wine lovers who still turn to me for advice and help. The San Domenico wine shop, while still belonging to us, is currently run by other people.
In 1998 I launched our first website which, with the necessary changes and adjustments over time, has been offering online shoppers a wide choice of products ever since.
In 2004, the Palazzo Piccolomini wine shop was opened in the magnificent building, home to Pope Pius II, standing thirty meters from Piazza del Campo. To this amazingly beautiful and history-filled location, I added my personal experience and way of selling wine, meant as providing customers with guidance, advice and assistance, so that they leave not only with a glass bottle but also and primarily with the memory of a lovely moment of wellbeing and awareness.
This website aims at recreating the atmosphere and sense of purpose of the wine shop, a place where, if you wish, you can explore wine’s cultural significance and value, its beneficial influence on human nature and the cheerfulness it sheds upon men and women.
